FRIDAY FIVE FAVS! FRIDAY FIVE FAVS! It’s finally AUTUMN!
*Seriously though, St. Vincent is the only female artist I would say is as good as Radiohead. Strange Mercy is the most terrifying album I’ve listened to in awhile and I mean that in the best possible way. The whole thing gives me chills and makes me feel like I’m careening towards a grand disaster. My postmodern classically trained musician brain loves the extended chromatic harmonies and push towards slight atonality. The chord progressions and timbres she uses in her compositions are completely studied. Her themes are melancholy and morose without sounding trite or angsty. It’s music for musicians.
TOMORROW NIGHT: I’M AT SWEET UPS FOR SOME 80s/90s/Disco/Funk! There is also a Bass/Moombah/Dub party in the basement so it’s going to be CRAZY!
Making lists of artists I’d like to cover for live shows: INXS, David Bowie, INXS, The Cure, INXS, Kate Bush, INXS.
The Devil inside, the Devil inside, every single one of us, the Devil inside.
JAMIE XX’S BBC RADIO 1 ESSENTIAL MIX.
It’s simply killer. Thanks to Anne for pointing this out to me! Happy Monday to you all.
It’s that time again! Friday Five Favs time! I’m takin it back this time. It’s been a good week for classics.
Myself and the Gun feat. Seth Persons (All Vocal Version).
So, I’ve been mixing the vocals for Myself and the Gun over the past couple of days and really like the way the song sounds with just the vocals (so many vocals) and the rhythm section. I will probably do a similar version as a B-Side or remix of the final track.
